My New Toy

December 4th, 2009

I walk in my door the other day to my fiance talking on the phone in the kitchen. I casually stroll in and give the “honey i am home” wave and smile, staying extra quiet because he was on the phone. I go about my business and start picking up the house waiting for him to get off the phone so i could give him my “honey, awesome job on setting up the new computer desk” praise for the day! He wanders into the living room and sits down in the computer chair and gets off the phone.

Suddenly it hits me!! “What the heck is that??!!” I cant believe i didnt notice the massive flat screen monitor on the newly constructed desk!! I see a mouse, a keyboard, the printer, but where is the bulky CPU thats going to take up space i dont have?? What in the world is going on??  Wait!! Hold On!! To the left of the printer sits a 6″x6″ box, white, with an apple on top of it!! Could it be?? Is it?? YES!! Its a Mac Mini!!!

“Merry Christmas!!” he says! For a moment I paused in my excitement! I immediately start seeing dollar signs bouncing around in my head put there previously from just doing research on different PC’s online! It quickly fades away when I see the Best Buy receipt realizing that it was relatively inexpensive for what we wanted!

Excited I say out loud “Man i need to call Adam, he will be so happy!” followed by, “Babe, that’s who i was talking too!” Uhhh he stole my Mac Thunder!! :)

My good buddy is a genius when it comes to computers and he has a Mac and swears by them, along with Aunt Barbara!!

I always wanted one, but cost drove me away. It was on my list of things i really want!! And now i have one!! :) i didnt get to explore it the first night, but last night i had some one on one Me and Mini Mac time! Just by sitting down and looking at the desktop you can tell right away, this isn’t your regular computer. Basic apps are easier to maneuver and it comes loaded with ones that get your creativity pumping! For example! Garage Band! It teaches how to play a musical instrument and create songs! How Cool! You can even put them on ITunes to Sell. Everything is easy to find and simple to use. Having my mouse, keyboard and even my phone connect via bluetooth straight to the Mac is great!! No more Norton Antivirus software to store! All my computer problems solved by this tiny little box!

The only things i am having trouble getting used to is the X to close out a screen is on the opposite side and instead of using Control and then a letter button for a function, you use command. I did find out however you can change your preferences, but in the words of Adam “that wouldnt be very mac of you.”

It’s friday and the weekend and I am looking very forward to spending more time getting to know my new Mac!

Its A Mac!! Not a PC!!

Screw You Windows 7!!! :)
